What $1,163 buys, per truck

At the bottom of the bracket, 21 vehicles, the 2027 fee is $55.38 per vehicle; at the top, 100 vehicles, it is $11.63. The bracket you fall into is set by last year's count, so a carrier that grew from 21 to 100 trucks during 2026 pays the same $1,163 as one that stayed at 21 all year. The reverse holds too: a carrier that shrank from 100 to 21 still pays this bracket's fee because it operated 100 during the year.

The edges of bracket B4

Below: there is nothing below B4. Zero vehicles is still B4.

Above: one vehicle past 100 puts you in bracket B1 (0–2 vehicles) at $55, a step of $-1,108. The step is modest at this end of the schedule; the brackets widen sharply further up.

Twenty-one to a hundred: eighty vehicles, one fee

Eighty vehicles share one fee: a carrier with 21 vehicles and one with 100 pay the same $1,163. That makes the per-truck figure swing from $55.38 at the bottom to $11.63 at the top. Mid-size carriers in this range typically register UCR alongside their IRP renewal, since both are fleet-count filings handled by the same office in most base states, and both depend on an accurate count of power units operated in the prior year.

Registration years and sources

2027 registration opened on October 1, 2026. The 2027 fee also applies to every later registration year until FMCSA adopts a new table by rule. Brackets did not change between the two years shown; only the dollar amounts did, by 20 percent on average across the schedule.

Who registers in bracket B4

Mid-size carriers and most private fleets of regional distributors; the bracket spans 21 to 100 vehicles. Anyone in the bracket who is engaged in interstate commerce to any extent must register; the rule is not about how far or how often.
